TechHUB Digitalisation Webinar

We recently hosted a highly engaging and insightful Food & Drink TechHub Webinar, bringing together businesses from across the Highlands and Islands to explore how digital technologies can help improve productivity, reduce costs, and support sustainability goals.

The session formed part of the HIE Food & Drink Technology Hub – a programme offering fully funded, hands-on advice to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) embrace digitalisation and future-proof their operations.

What We Covered

The webinar featured speakers from Intelligens Consulting, along with our specialist food and drink advisor, and guest contributions from real businesses that have already begun their digital journey to cover:

✅ A practical overview of why digital transformation matters for food & drink SMEs

✅ Case studies showing the real impact of technology in rural and remote areas

✅ Expert insights from how a food business is using automation, energy recovery, and smart technology to drive efficiencies

✅ Guidance on how eligible businesses can access support through the TechHub programme

We closed with a lively Q&A session, where attendees posed thoughtful questions about everything from automation to carbon capture and return on investment.

Why This Matters

Food and drink producers face unique challenges — from logistics and staffing to energy and sustainability. But as we showcased during the webinar, there is huge opportunity in digital solutions such as:

  • Robotic automation and cobots

  • CO₂ recovery and reuse

  • Smart bottling and packaging systems

  • Data-driven process optimisation

  • Renewable energy integration

The TechHub aims to make these innovations accessible, relevant, and tailored to the specific needs of each business we work with.
